32 weeks and counting!

Today was my 32 week appointment! Yay! I am now going to the Dr. every 2 weeks until I reach 36 weeks and then I will go every week. I can't believe how quickly our due date is approaching! The Dr. said everything looks good and is right on track.

I had my first shower a couple weekends ago and it was a lot of fun to see all of my friends and family. Some I haven't seen for a really long time!

We are about 3/4 of the way done with the baby's room. Stuart has worked so hard to paint and put together all of our furniture. The last couple things we have to do is put up a chair rail and to organize, organize, organize! Right now the crib is my "to-be-ironed" spot where I put my clothes. I need to find a new ironing spot real soon!

School is a very interesting place when you are pregnant! 1st graders are so sweet and I've gotten lots of pictures of what I look like! A funny story is that we were talking about our vocabulary word 'SIGN' and we talked about examples like "A sign of Fall is the leaves falling" or "A sign that I am hungry is my stomach growls". So they have to write a little definition of the word in their Vocab. Journals and then draw a picture of how they can remember the word. Well, one of my little boys drew me with a huge stomach and when I asked him how he would remember the word sign, he said "Your stomach is getting bigger which is a sign that you are going to have a baby!" How great is that! I have color copied them and will put them in the baby book! Their new thing is to "hug the baby". Since their little heads are right at eye level, they love to gently hug my stomach. Ahhhhh.....

Attached are a couple of recent pics of me and my shower.

Time to Update!

Well, I thought I would be able to do a blog a week....apparently not since my last blog was in July! Oops. Now that things have settled somewhat from moving and school starting, I am going to try to update everyone a little more frequently!

Here are some highlights over the last 2 months-
-Stuart and I moved into our 2nd house at the end of July! We love our home and can't wait for this to be the place where we make many memories as a family.
-As with most homes, the home projects have begun! I am so lucky to have such a handy husband. Some projects so far: interior paint in some rooms, redoing the deck, moving the laundry room into the house(it was in the garage), and I can't forget the intital project of the house was to get our new refrigerator to fit, which involved tearing out and moving some kitchen cabinets! Whew....and we haven't even started on Eli's room yet!
-Stuart and I went to Las Vegas for his good friend Justin's wedding. It was a lot of fun to get away before school started.
-I finished my Master's Degree from Emporia State University! After 3 years of classes, I am really enjoying this fall and not having lots of classwork to do!
-I started another year teaching 1st grade!
-Stuart has settled into his new job that he started last Spring and loves his much more flexible schedule than he used to have!

And for Eli-He is growing like crazy and we can't wait to meet him! Here are some pictures of me-and my baby bump that gets larger by the day:)

It's a......

Today was my 16 week check up. Stuart went with me because last month the doctor was pretty sure that we would be able to find out the sex of our baby today. I was still a little reluctant because it seemed so early. The technician began to do her thing and brought up a very clear picture of the baby on it's side. It was amazing how much the baby had changed since our first ultrasound. The baby was very stubborn and wouldn't really move around a lot and it was right on top of my bladder!! So now Stuart really believes me that I really do have to go to the bathroom a lot!

It was neat watching all of the measurements she was taking and she zoomed in on various parts of the body for us to see. We saw a really cool view of the spine, some leg bones, the heart, and the top of the head. Just as we were about to give up on knowing the sex.....the baby moved around and she was able to get a very clear view of the BOY parts! Still a little nervous about hearing rumors that it can be wrong I asked how sure she was. She assured me that she wouldn't have told me if she wasn't sure. So we were very excited that we were able to find out that we were having a little boy!

Then we met with the Dr. and he was very pleased with how things were progressing. All of the measurements were normal and the heart rate was great!

To celebrate we headed to the Kansas Sampler store. I have held back and haven't bought anything for the baby yet so we bought the cutest little KSU polo onesie! And I bought myself a maternity KSU shirt to wear to the football games.

Let the registering begin!

Today was a fun milestone of baby shopping with my sister Karly.

I made my first official visit to Babies R Us as an expecting mom and was completely overwhelmed!!! It is one thing to go in that place with a registry for someone already in hand and pick out a gift but to go in just to look and see what I will need is slightly intimidating. There was a whole corner 5 feet high of pacifiers! Seriously.....I thought there was only one kind:)

I am glad I went there to visit and didn't plan on registering because now I have a chance to really decide what we need. I am a big researcher as well so I am starting to research strollers. That's another thing-I did not realize how many different strollers are out there!

It was fun to imagine all of the stuff in our new house but I can see how quickly this little one(and his or her stuff) will take over!

Other than that, things are going really well. I have felt great and am excited to find out if we are having a boy or girl. Our appointment is tomorrow and if we are able to find out the sex be on the look out for a post!

New House

This has been an exciting week for us. I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I got to hear the heartbeat. It was very cool. Stuart was sad he missed it. I thought it was just going to be a regular checkup-blood pressure, weight, etc. So we decided that it wouldn't be a big deal if he missed this one since he had meetings at work all day. The doctor said everything looks great, the heartbeat was 16o which was good. My next appointment is July 7th and he said that he probably could do a sonogram and find out if it is a boy or girl!

On Sunday we bought a house!. We looked at a TON of houses over the last few weeks. We found the perfect one. We move toward the middle/end of July. Luckily the house is move in ready and we don't have to do anything to it.

This weekend I am traveling with my family to go to my cousin Greg's wedding. It should be a fun trip! Stuart decided to stay back because we are trying to save as many of his days as possible for when the baby comes at the end of the year.

Stay tuned.....

Hello!

Welcome to our first blog! Now that we are expecting, we thought this would be a great way for family and friends to keep in touch and see what's going on with our family. Stay tuned for more posts and hopefully pictures(once I figure out how to add them)!
